The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus, is continuously under check with every day reported numbering below 300 cases.

On Thursday, the 23rd of September, Telangana reported 247 new cases with one death and 315 recoveries. On the evening of the 23rd of September, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updated information about the COVID-19 situation in the State. The new cases were confirmed after conducting 51,521 COVID-19 tests of samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.60 crores till date.

With this, Telangana now has 6,64,411 positive cases, of which 4,877 are active cases, 6,55,625 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,909 are deceased.

According to sources, of the new cases, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region with 71 cases. Although the Wuhan virus cases are decreasing in Telangana, the GHMC limit showed no improvement with more than 50 cases regularly. Of the total new cases, close to 30 % cases are from the GHMC limits alone. The remaining cases are from the other 32 districts of the State.

However, in the South Indian region, Telangana is the only state with low single day cases of the Wuhan virus. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the COVID-19 situation is risky with a high number of cases and active cases above 5,000.

Cases in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are 13,749; 1,60,087; 13,590 and 17,121; respectively.

On the other hand, with the situation under control, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is preparing for the possible third wave of the deadly virus.

In addition, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 98.67% from the previous 98.66 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 remained constant for the past one and half month at 0.58 %.

It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic.
