Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, met with Ms. Kamala Harris, the Vice President (VP) of the United States of America (U.S.A.,) and Mr. Yoshihide Suga, the Prime Minister of Japan.
The meeting with Ms. Kamala Harris was scheduled on the 23rd of September evening at Eisenhower Executive Office Building, near the premises of the White House. During the meeting the leaders discussed the global and regional development, bilateral partnership between India and the U.S.A., in the healthcare, education and technology sector. Speaking about the COVID-19 vaccine and pandemic management by the Indian Government with the support of the U.S.A., Ms. Kamala Harris said, “Early in the pandemic, India was a vital source of vaccines for other countries. When India experienced a surge of COVID in the country, the United States was proud to support India in its need and responsibility to vaccinate its people.”
In addition, Mr. Narendra Modi invited Ms. Kamala Harris to India and said, “The people of India are waiting to welcome you. I extend to you an invitation to visit India.”
Besides meeting with the U.S., VP, Mr. Narendra Modi also met with Mr. Yoshihide Suga and discussed bilateral relations with Japan and scope of growth and development of the two countries and exchanged global views including the Afghanistan matter. Both the leaders discussed ways to have trade and cultural ties between India and Japan.
On Thursday, the 23rd of September, Mr. Narendra Modi also met with his Australian counterpart Mr. Scott Morrison and chief executive officers (CEOs) of American companies in Washington.
It is to be noted, on the 22nd of September, Mr. Narendra Modi left for the United States of America., on a special Air India flight. This visit is the Prime Minister’s first visit to the United States of America after the Joe Biden administration formed the Government. During his one week visit to attend the Quad Leaders Summit 2021, Mr. Modi held bilateral meetings with political leaders and met CEOs of American companies.
On the third day of visit, the 24th of September, Mr. Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with Mr. Joe Biden, the President of the U.S.A., and discuss several issues, bilateral relations and future development.
The PM of India would also address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the 25th of September. Mr. Narendra Modi is scheduled to return to India on the 26th of September.
