On Monday, the 18th of October, Telangana reported 208 new cases with two deaths and 201 recoveries. The new cases were confirmed by conducting 45,418 sample tests for COVID-19, of which 208 came positive for COVID-19. After two days, the State Health Department conducted more than 40,000 sample tests. In the past two days, the number of sample tests for COVID-19 infection was below 30,000. With this, till date, the State Health Department conducted 2.70 crores COVID-19 tests.
Despite the low number of cases, of the new cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) region reported 62, the highest number of the Wuhan virus cases. Of all the districts, the GHMC limit showed no improvement and reports a high number of cases regularly.
The aforementioned data was confirmed through a health bulletin, released by the Telangana Health Department on Monday evening. The media bulletin of the State Health Department is being released regularly to keep an update about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.
According to the health bulletin, Telangana now has 6,69,163 positive cases, of which 3,940 are active cases, 6,61,294 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,940 are deceased. The recovery rate of Telangana is now at 98.82 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 remained constant for the past four months at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, in the South Indian region, Telangana is the only state with low single day cases of the Wuhan virus. In other states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the COVID-19 situation is risky with a high number of single day cases and active cases above 5,000.
The State Health Department is also putting efforts and ensuring that people are safe and following COVID-19 appropriate behavior.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, of the total active Wuhan virus cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic.
