Telangana’s Gandhi Hospital Would Be COVID-19 Treatment Centre

The Telangana Government, on the 17th of March, decided to convert state run Gandhi Hospital to be a treatment centre for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 positive cases.

Since India stepped into stage 2 of the deadly Novel Coronavirus disease, state governments also geared up for active and instant treatments.

Considering the current situation in Telangana, the  Health Department decided to divide the work amongst the hospitals dealing with the suspects of Coronavirus.  While the suspected cases of Coronavirus would be referred to other state hospitals, the samples testing would be divided amongst Osmania and Gandhi hospitals.

After the tests, only positive cases of COVID-19 would be admitted to the Gandhi Hospital for  treatment. The Telangana Government run Gandhi Hospital, would be designated as the focused centre for treating the COVID-19 positive cases.

Telangana reported 5 Coronavirus positive cases till date.  The Telangana Government tested all the close contacts of these 5 patients and confirmed them to be negative of COVID-19.  Etela Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, said, “People coming from China, Italy, Iran, Germany, France, Korea, Spain and UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait etc., countries would be quarantined even without symptoms.”

Flights from Afghanistan, Malaysia, Philippines and the United Kingdom were stopped. As many as 221 passengers were quarantined in Vikarabad and Dullapally and 1,238 passengers are under self isolation in Hyderabad.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) also launched door to door survey and awareness for the COVID-19 as preventive measure.

The deadly disease with symptoms of breathing issues, dry cough, cold and fever has so far killed 7,984  people and infected 1,98,412 people, globally.
