On the 12th of July, Kaushik Reddy, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Secretary resigned from the Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana.
Mr. Kaushik Reddy, who was also the Party in charge for the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly constituency by elections submitted his resignation. The resignation came hours after the INC Telangana unit issued a show cause notice to him, after hearing an audio clip, in which he was talking about being the TRS candidate for the Huzurabad constituency. In the clip, which is the only reason for the show cause notice, Kaushik Reddy was heard saying, the ruling TRS Government promised him a ticket to contest the Huzurabad by election. In the audio, he was also heard asking for a list of village youths, who would be into the TRS after being paid. According to the audio clip, Kishan Reddy said, “Pay them ₹2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 and bring them into the party. I will take care of you.”
However, no media sources and agencies confirmed the authenticity of the audio. It is also noted that, even after receiving the show cause notice, the former TPCC Secretary did not give any explanation and chose to quit the INC.
In his resignation letter, addressed to Sonia Gandhi, the Interim President of the INC thanked all the senior INC leaders. He extended gratitude to Sonia Gandhi, the former INC President Rahul Gandhi, Uttam Kumar Reddy and others for their support.
In fact, Kaushik Reddy was also given a ticket to contest the Huzurabad constituency in 2018 Assembly elections, which he lost against Eatala Rajender, who resigned as the Huzurabad MLA recently, leaving the seat vacant.
After resigning from the INC, especially after the alleged audio clip, Mr. Kaushik Reddy is expected to join the TRS officially.
However, an official announcement regarding Kaushik Reddy’s joining of the TRS is yet to be made.
Stay tuned for further updates.
