The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) decided to conduct an agitation against the unemployment issue in Telangana. On the 29th of September, Mr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the TPCC, said, the party would hold a 65 day long agitation named, ‘Vidyarthi Nirudyodgula Jung Siren’ (Students, Jobless War Bugle.)

The agitation is scheduled to begin from the 2nd of October, also the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and would continue for 65 days, till the 9th of December. During this 2 months long protest, the Indian National Congress (INC) would highlight unemployment issues, would demand fee reimbursement for students, filling up of over 1.91 Lakh vacancies and unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 to each unemployed person. It is to be noted, during the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) promised to provide unemployment allowance to 60 lakh unemployed youths. The same was included in the Party manifesto, released during the campaign. However, they failed to provide the allowance to the unemployed individuals in Telangana.

Highlighting the same, the INC would launch the agitation soon. In regard to this, Mr. Revanth Reddy held a press conference. Along with the TPCC Chief, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, the TPCC Political Affairs Committee Convener other senior leaders of the INC were present.

The press meet was held at Gandhi Bhavan, where the TPCC raised students’ issues and asked the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government to immediately clear dues of over Rs. 4,000 Crore towards the Fee Reimbursement scheme.

Meanwhile, informing about the protest, Mr. Revanth Reddy said, ‘Vidyarthi Nirudyodgula Jung Siren’ would be launched on the 2nd October at Rajiv Chowk, Dilsukhnagar at 3:00 P.M. After paying tributes to the former prime minister of India the late Ms. Indira Gandhi, a padayatra would be taken out up to LB Nagar cross roads near the statue of the Telangana martyr, Srikanth Chari.

However, considering the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic, the TPCC made it clear that no public meeting would be organised.

With this in the past two months, the TPCC raised two important issues in Telangana. Recently, on the 9th of August, the TPCC organised the largest public meeting named Dalit Girijan Dandora. It was one of a kind public meeting to raise voices against the ruling TRS Government, demanding welfare schemes to the Scheduled Castes (SCs,) the Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Tribals in Telangana. The meeting was attended by close to 1 lakh people.

With this constant protests and agitations, the TPCC is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen the party roots in Telangana and is moving strategically. After the appointment of the new TPCC, A. Revanth Reddy, the Party is more active, raising several issues and launching protests against the TRS.
