The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) welcomed the former member of the Indian National Congress (INC) Padi Kaushik Reddy to the Party as the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) nomination.
On the 1st of August, the Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao approved the nomination of Padi Kaushik Reddy for the TRS MLC posts. He has been nominated for the MLC post under the Governor’s quota. The MLC nomination was also forwarded to Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana for an official approval.
P. Kaushik Reddy resigned as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Secretary and the INC on the 12th of July. After quitting the INC Party and the position of in charge of Huzurabad, Padi Kaushik Reddy officially became a member of the TRS on the 21st of July. Now, within 10 days of being a TRS member, he was nominated as the MLC of the TRS.
It is to be noted, the resignation of Mr. Kaushik Reddy came after the INC in Telangana issued a show cause notice, based on a leaked audio clip.
On the 12th of July, the TPCC issued the notice, citing the audio clip, in which he was talking about being the TRS candidate for the Huzurabad by elections. However, instead of answering and explaining, Mr. Kaushik Reddy resigned from the INC and within 10 days, on the 21st of July, joined the ruling TRS Government.
Initially after joining the TRS, there were speculations that the TRS would nominate Mr. Kaushik Reddy against Mr. Eatala Rajender as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate in the upcoming Huzurabad by election. However, with the approved nomination of Mr. Kaushik Reddy for the MLC position, it is clear, the Party is looking to nominate a senior most and strong contender against Eatala Rajender, who is going to represent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
