The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is working hard to ensure empowerment to the backward class people, the Dalits, the Scheduled Tribe and other minorities in Telangana.

After the recent launch of the Dalit Bandhu Scheme, the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government is planning to come up with BC Bandhu Scheme. With the aim to uplift the BC community, the TRS Government is likely to launch a welfare scheme, which would be a huge benefit to the BCs. The assumptions on the new BC Bandhu scheme was based on the discussion and decision taken during a high level meeting on the 24th of August. Yesterday, the TRS State Executive Committee and other leaders of the Party attended the meeting chaired by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.

After the meeting, Mr. Rao, said, the TRS would help all the castes and religions in a phased manner by bringing schemes like Dalit Bandhu. Addressing the media, KCR said, “It’s the TRS which will bring BC Bandhu and similar schemes for all other castes and religions in future in phases. The TRS will not leave out anyone who is poor and needs financial support to come up in life. The TRS will remain in power for the next 20 years and will implement all these schemes.”

The TRS President also lashed out at the opposition parties, trying to tarnish the image of TRS and creating a false image for their political gains. Recently, the Dalit Bandhu Scheme of the TRS drew a lot of criticism for its launch timing, which was ahead of the Huzurabad Assembly by election. Parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) said, the TRS is using Dalit people to gain votes with the Dalit Bandhu Scheme. In addition, the TPCC President Mr. A. Revanth Reddy asked the KCR Government to launch similar schemes for other backward classes people in Telangana.

Responding to these criticisms, Mr. Rao said, “This doesn’t mean that we have no concern for the poor belonging to other castes. Dalits are languishing in extreme poverty not just in Telangana but in the entire country even after 70 years of independence. Governments at the Centre and the states have failed to bring qualitative change in the lives of Dalits. For that reason, I have decided to do something for the betterment of Dalits, who remain at the bottom of the pyramid. Step by step, we will move upwards covering all castes and religions.”

Later, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the TRS Working President and State Minister said, “The CM’s speech on Dalit Bandhu for over an hour was like an academic discourse. He (KCR) cleared all the doubts surrounding the scheme and motivated all to work for the effective implementation of Dalit Bandhu in Huzurabad on a pilot basis. If this pilot programme becomes a success, the entire country will look at Telangana and it will fuel debate in all states to follow suit.”

The details of this expected new BC Bandhu scheme, aiming towards growth and development of the backward class people in Telangana is awaited.
