Ms. K. Kavitha Kuntla, a leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took a dig at the upcoming visit of Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC.)
On the 4th of May, the TRS Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Ms. K. Kunthala said, “He (Rahul Gandhi) is only coming to the State for politics.” She addressed a press conference and said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi never talked in favour of Telangana. I do not know why he is coming to Warangal and Osmania University now.”
Continuing the criticism, Ms. Kavitha Kuntala said, the INC leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi never spoke in favour of Telangana. Despite a request by the TRS Government, the INC did not raise the paddy procurement issue for the farmers of the State in the national capital, then why is he visiting the State now. The TRS MLC said, “During the paddy crop issue, we urged him (Rahul Gandhi) to raise the issue in Parliament and to support the farmers of Telangana but he did not. But now he is planning something in Warangal, coming here to do politics only.”
It is to be noted, in Telangana, a political ruckus happened between the TRS and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) after Osmania University and its administration rejected the proposal to hold a public meeting in the campus. The administration declined the permission to allow Rahul Gandhi’s meet and interaction with the students.
Taking a dig at the development, the TPCC blamed the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government for the same and filed a petition in the Telangana High Court.
Notably, Mr. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Telangana on the 6th of May. The visit is in view of the upcoming Rythu Sangharshana public meeting. The public meeting of the TPCC on the 6th of May is said to be a huge event, organised with the participation of the National INC leaders in Telangana’s Warangal district.
