TS To Celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav For 75 Years Of India’s Independence

Telangana is preparing for a grand celebration for 75 years of Independence.  

On the 15th of August 2022, India would complete 75 years of Independence. To celebrate this occasion, the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, decided to celebrate the grand ustav (festival) for 75 weeks. The 75 weeks celebration would begin from the 12th of March.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) conducted a meeting regarding the same. The meeting was scheduled on the 8th of March at Telangana Bhavan. 

During the meeting, Mr. Rao also constituted a high level committee to organise grand celebrations across the State. The Government advisor K.V. Ramanachary would head the State organising committee for ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.

Other members of the committee include Principal Secretaries of General Administration, Finance, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Panchayat Raj, Cultural Affairs and Education departments along with the Director of Municipal Administration and Commissioner of Panchayat Raj. The Director of Culture Mamidi Harikrishna would be the member secretary of the committee.

The meeting and the committee was Constituted after a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Monday (the 8th of March,) PM. Modi held a video conference with Indian states’ chief ministers. During the conference Mr. Modi explained the priorities and objectives of the programme and asked all chief ministers to conduct patriotic programmes for 75 weeks from the 12th of March.

After the meeting with Mr. Modi, KCR held a review meeting with the officials at Pragathi Bhavan. Government Advisor Ramanachary, Principal Secretary for Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) S. Narsing Rao, CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal, Cultural Affairs Secretary Srinivas Raju and Director of Cultural Affairs Mamidi Harikrishna and other officials attended the meeting.

The State Government even issued instructions on different programmes to be organised as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. In regard to the celebration, the TRS Government allocated Rs. 25 crores for the celebrations. The celebration would be a part of the Nation wide ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiated by the Union Government.

According to the sources, the Telangana Chief Minister decided to organise the inaugural function of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at the Public Gardens in Hyderabad and also the Police Parade Grounds in Warangal on the 12th of March.

Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao is expected to begin celebrations in Hyderabad while Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will be the Chief Guest at the event in Warangal.

The inaugural day and event would follow all the strict guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Besides the inaugural event, the TRS Government is planning to hoist huge national flags at 75 important places across Telangana.

The 75 week long festivities include patriotic programmes like essay writing competitions, poetry conventions, elocution competition, painting competitions, etc. would be organised at various levels.
