TSRTC launches additional buses

TSRTC introduced new buses in busy areas to aid those stranded by the strike of cabs.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has introduced several additional buses into service to aid those affected by the ongoing cab drivers strike. These buses have been introduced on high density routes as people are struggling to find means of transportation mainly during peak hours.

Apart from this, people are forced to pay higher rates in wake of less availability of cabs which leads to the price surge. There are many traveling to and fro the IT corridor. Executive Director A. Purushotham, TSRTC, said, “In view of the strike by cab drivers in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, TSRTC has made special arrangements for providing transportation to the IT corridor from bus stations and railway stations.” They have also included several traffic supervisors to aid in the smooth flow of traffic. These will also monitor the flow of these additional buses at all times.

Purushotham added, “Enforcement squads have been deployed for surveillance of the corridors to ensure clearance of traffic and to make necessary diversions wherever traffic holdups are observed. The above additional transportation facilities will be available till the private cab owners association strike is called off or till December 4, whichever is earlier.”

As the cabs were off the streets the autos were the only means of transport for many, and they started charging extra fares. The night fares were used for day times and in some cases charging almost double.
