TSRTC Strike – BJP To Organise Sadak Bandh In Telangana

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to stage a protest, ‘Sadak Bandh,’ in Telangana on the 19th of November.

The BJP would organise the Sadak Bandh against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) in support of the Telangana State Road Transportation Corporation (TSRTC) employees.

Dr. K. Laxman, the President of the BJP in Telangana, on the 17th of November, said, “It is most unfortunate that some IAS officers in Telangana are acting as agents of ruling TRS party by not only filing false affidavits, false data and false allegations and have gone to an extent of levelling charges against BJP and even RTC employees that they are conspiring to dethrone the present State Government.”

K. Laxman said he would lead the protest and added, “This should become an eyeopener to the Government. And see to it that the TSRTC employees’ genuine demands are met, otherwise the Government shall face adverse consequences in the State.”

In support of the TSRTC employees, Mr. Laxman said the Telangana HC should take suo motu cognizance of the statement given by Sunil Sharma, the Transport Principal Secretary.  Sunil Sharma blamed the BJP for calling the TSRTC issue a political one and alleging the BJP of destabilizing the TRS Government.

Laxman addressed the media and asked Sunil Sharma to either prove his allegations about the BJP trying to destabilise the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government or resign from his post.

The BJP demanded the Telangana Government respond to the TSRTC employees’ demands and hold talks with them, especially since they dropped the demand of merging the TSRTC with the TRS Government.

On the 14th of November, E. Ashwathama Reddy, the Convenor of the Joint Action Committee (JAC,) dropped the merger demand.

Despite this, the TRS Government did not respond to the TSRTC employees yet.

Meanwhile, the TSRTC strike, which started on the 5th of October, entered its 45th day on the 18th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
