UG/PG Exams Postponed In JNTU Hyderabad Due To Pandemic Crisis

On the 12th of June, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University (JNTU) Hyderabad, announced to postpone its undergraduate and postgraduate examinations.

The decision was taken in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the State.   The UG and PG semester exams would be on hold until the next dates are released.

The dates would be finalized after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) would conduct a  review meeting on the conduct of exams next week.  The Telangana Education Ministry and officials of the Education department would be present in the meeting, scheduled in the next week.

Initially, the JNTU Hyderabad announced the schedule for final exams from the 20th of June, but considering the current situation and rise in COVID-19 cases in Hyderabad, the administration decided to postpone.

The JNTU Hyderabad issued a notice regarding the same, “The principals of the colleges are informed to note that decision on the semester examinations of the final year as well as other year students of UG and PG courses of all autonomous, constituent and affiliated colleges of JNTUH, shall be taken by the state government. Such time, no institute should conduct any examination including mid-term examinations.”

As per the guidelines of the Telangana Government, no student of 1st and 2nd year would be detain this academic year (2020-2021.)

However, for the final year students of courses like BA, BCom and BSc need to give final exams. The conduct of exams will be decided after the review meeting scheduled early next week.

On the other hand, Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana and the Chancellor of all the state universities decided to talk with university registrars over semester exams.

Ms. Soundararajan took to Twitter and announced “#UNIVERSITYexams .interacting with TS university registrars regarding conducting examinations amidst #COVID19 pandemic situation Pros & cons keeping in mind Students SAFETY FIRST & parents Concerns. Rajbhavan in touch with TS Higher Education Dept Officially on the above subject.”

The official dates of the review meeting regarding the UG and PG exams in the State is yet to be announced.
