A junior of the Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, reported a ragging incident.
On the 14th of November, Sunday, a third year medical student at the Kakatiya Medical College, shared an incident of ragging by seniors through the micro blogging site, Twitter. In the Twitter post, the student, who wished to be anonymous, tagged Mr. Narendra Modi, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, Mr. Amit Shah, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Warangal district and Commissioner of Police (CP) of Warangal.
The Twitter post read, “There are a lot of ragging incidents going on in KMC. Please save. Except for all of them, the drunken junior is abusing the medical profession. All this is happening at Newmen’s Hostel-1 in Warangal KMC. Please protect me.”
According to the Twitter post, a few days ago, third year students arranged freshers day at New Mens hostel 1 of the medical college and invited fourth-year students. The issue flared up after senior students interacted inappropriately with juniors under the influence of alcohol. The issue intensified with strict ragging by seniors, following which one of the students who was present at the freshers party, posted the same on Twitter.
After receiving the information through a tweet, the police reached the university and conducted an investigation.
This is not the first time that ragging issues have been reported at the Kakatiya Medical College (KMC.) In the past, many students of first, second and third year reported ragging incidents.
Due to the continuous conflicts and reports like these, the KMC is losing the ground of trust.
The investigation is underway.
