Australia: Stelarc, a professor and performance artist from Australia is growing an extra ear on his arm as a part of his new gauge.
Professor is working on this project from a decade. He had a bio-polymer scaffold which was in the shape of an ear and got it placed under his skin. Within six months his tissue and blood vessels grew around it.
Soon after that, it started to resemble like a ear lobe and eventually the professor inserted a microphone and wireless transmitter so that the ear can get connected to the internet. By this people can hear what the ear is hearing via Wi-Fi.
Stelarc said, “This ear is not for me, I’ve got two good ears to hear with. This ear is a remote listening device for people in other places. They’ll be able to follow a conversation or hear the sounds of a concert, wherever I am, wherever you are imagine if I could hear with the ears of someone in New York.”
