Galiba Hayat, the first child of district cricket team player Najmul Huda and his wife Naznin Akhter, an advocate, was born on Thursday in Faridpur, about 140 km from Bangladesh.
Two hours after her birth, doctors at the hospital declared her dead after which she was taken to a graveyard for a burial.
The caretaker of the graveyard asked her relatives to return on Friday morning for the burial and the dead newborn spent the night in a carton at the graveyard.
But leaving everyone in shock, the baby began to cry as soon as all the burial formalities were completed. Immediately the baby was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors suggested she be taken to Dhaka.
The baby’s grandfather Abdul Kalam said, “Doctors had referred her to Dhaka Hospital on Thursday itself but we could not do because of the financial condition.”
On Saturday, a person who asked not to reveal his name expressed, his desire to bear the cost of Galiba Hayat’s treatment and other arrangements necessary at Dhaka’s Square Hospital for a better and good treatment.
The newborn was in a serious condition as she was born 24 weeks into the pregnancy and weighed only 700 grams. So, she was sent for intensive care treatment to Dhaka. “If Galiba gets good care, good results may be expected,” Faridpur Sadar Hospital Head Dr. Khondokar Mohamed Abdullah said to the media.
