On Thursday, the former AAP Minister Kapil Mishra recorded his statement with the Anti Corruption Branch in relation to the water tanker scam. The ACB conducted raids on PWD office that was occupied by an engineer in northwest Delhi.
The ACB conducted this raid in relation to the allegation of a contract that was given to a construction firm that belonged to a relative of CM Arvind Kejriwal. Mishra, the former Minister has been on a hunger strike in regard to the corruption case. He approached the ACB office at noon and was interrogated till late in the afternoon.
The former minister had visited the ACB office and shared with them the evidence for Rs. 400 crore scam. The scam allegedly took place during the tenure of Shiela Dixit as the CM of Delhi. The case has been time again delayed by the influence of Kejriwal and two of his influential associates.
In August 2016, Dixit was interrogated by the ACB and was asked to fill an 18 question form. In a twist of tale, Mishra blamed BJP till some time back about protecting Dixit, but later changed his statement and blamed the AAP government for shielding her. Kejriwal in June 2015 constituted a ‘fact finding committee’ that held a probe into the irregularities that were observed in procuring 385 stainless steel water tankers by the DJB. This report was forwarded to the lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung, after which a case was registered in this issue.
ACB officials also recorded the statement of NGO Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO) member Rahul Sharma, who also registered a complaint on Kejriwal’s relative in relation to granting of contracts for road and sewer lines in Delhi. The ACB registered three FIRs already, which state that the receipts showing purchase of material were concocted and forged and caused Rs. 10 crore loss to the public exchequer.
