The counting for the Himachal Pradesh Election began at 8 A.M., this morning. Before the counting could begin, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh confidently stated the Congress would win despite the exit polls showing the BJP victorious.
Singh was quoted saying, “I am confident that ‘mission repeat’ would be achieved and tall claims made by the BJP would be proved wrong.”
On the other hand, the BJP candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal showed optimism as he boldly said, “In fact, the BJP would win more seats than projected in exit polls.”
The counting of the votes began in 42 counting centers at 8 A.M. In the first hour of counting, out of the 68 seats, the BJP bags 15 while the Congress holds onto 7 seats. Himachal Pradesh had a record voter turnout of 75.28% during the 9th November election.
The counting is underway and the results will be updated.
