Rajasthan is conducting its Municipal elections on the 16th of November. The elections started at 7:00 A.M., and would continue till the 5:00 P.M.
The State is conducting the polls for 49 Municipal bodies to elect 2,100 councillors. Approximately 7,944 candidates are contesting the local body elections. The 49 Municipal bodies include 28 nagar palikas, 18 nagar parishads and three nagar nigams.
A total of 33.69 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes. Out of the 33.69 lakh voters, 17.05 lakhs are men and 16.01 lakhs are women.
According to sources, the elections are going peaceful so far and election officers were deployed at every polling station to maintain peace.
While the civic bodies’ elections were held today, the elections for the posts of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the local bodies are scheduled to be held on the 26th of November and 27th of November.
The major parties contesting the Municipal elections are the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
The results of the Rajasthan Municipal elections are scheduled to be announced on the 19th of November.
