Following a recent cabinet meeting in Amaravati, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu urged ministers and MLAs to uphold integrity and avoid meddling in the newly implemented free sand policy. Addressing political concerns post-meeting, Naidu outlined plans to ensure ample availability of sand starting October, with permissions granted to boat societies for extraction. Currently, 43 lakh tonnes of sand are stockpiled, yet the demand stands at one crore tonnes over the next three months, including 80 lakh tonnes from rivers and boat societies.
Naidu stressed on fiscal responsibility amidst a deficit budget, advocating monthly reviews of departmental issues and transparent communication with the public. Ahead of their Delhi visit for state interests, Naidu announced five-day assembly sessions from the 22nd, alongside plans for a ministerial committee to oversee the implementation of a new crop insurance scheme. Discussions also highlighted allegations of rice irregularities involving Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy in Kakinada, prompting calls for a thorough investigation to be finalized by the next cabinet meeting.
