Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh has announced a significant overhaul of the state’s intermediate education system. The decision comes in response to a declining number of students enrolling in government intermediate colleges each year.

During a review meeting with officials, Minister Lokesh revealed that NCERT textbooks will be introduced for the first year of intermediate courses starting next year. The government will also be making changes to the question paper pattern. To better prepare students for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and EAMCET, the government plans to conduct aptitude tests.

The minister highlighted the lack of attention given to intermediate education during the previous YSRCP government’s tenure. He emphasized the need to adapt to changing times and announced that the question papers for intermediate exams will be modified starting next year.

Key points from the review meeting:

  • Introduction of NCERT textbooks for the first year of intermediate courses.
  • Changes in the question paper pattern.
  • Aptitude tests for students to prepare for competitive exams.
  • A comprehensive review of the intermediate education system.
  • Focus on improving the quality of education in government intermediate colleges.

Other discussed topics included:

  • Workdays and academic calendar
  • Syllabus and teacher workload
  • Exam schedules
  • Parent-teacher meetings
  • Teacher training
  • Student attendance
  • Enhancing student skills

By implementing these changes, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to improve the quality of intermediate education and attract more students to government colleges.
