BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has announced that six party teams will visit major power plants and Singareni headquarters across Telangana on Thursday, September 24.
The teams will inspect power generation, coal supplies and the shutdown of units amid allegations of a power shortage in the state, KTR said on Wednesday.
The teams will visit Yadadri Thermal Power Station at Damaracherla, Kothagudem Thermal Power Station, Bhadradri Thermal Power Station at Manuguru, Kakatiya Thermal Power Project at Bhupalpally, Singareni Thermal Power Plant at Jaipur and Singareni headquarters in Hyderabad.
KTR said the teams would study the situation and later make their findings public. He also demanded the restoration of 24-hour power supply for farmers.
KTR attributed the shortage to a reported coal shortage at Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). He also alleged that Telangana power plants were receiving lower-grade coal.
The BRS leader questioned the government’s handling of the power situation and rejected Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s explanation linking the shortage to El Niño.
