Rathish Sekhar, a consultant on government projects, received a Rs. 9.15 lakh bill from his Ola driver, which could easily cover his round the trip costs, for just travelling to Nizamabad from Jubilee Hills on August 24th.
Sekhar received a mini heart attack when he was charged a little over 9 lakh just for a 450km trip. Although he agreed that the surge pricing was on when he had booked the cab, the estimate still showed around Rs. 5000. He even debated if the decimal point was off (915000.00 instead of 9150.00) but even that would be double what was projected.
Even his driver was shocked, and told him that Sekhar could have bought two Indica cabs with that amount. Ola took 30 minutes to recalculate the bill (to Rs. 4812). However, they agreed to the technical glitch, and apologised.
