Visakhapatnam: A day after inauguration, the floating bridge at Vizag beach broke into two. Major mishap evaded as no tourists were on the bridge at the time of the incident.

MP Y V Subba Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the floating bridge initiated and developed by VMRDA. Around Rs.5 crores were spent on the project which is promoted as a major tourist attraction at RK Beach.

Tail part of the floating bridge washed away by 100 meters into the sea. Luckily no tourists were on the bridge at the time of the incident. However, the contract agency said that the part of the bridge was separated as a part of maintenance works.

City unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted YSRCP over the incident. This government is not in a position to construct a floating bridge properly as it aims to construct a huge capital, said BJP spokesperson Lanka Dinakar.
