After the farmers of Amaravati, the Advocates Joint Action Committee (JAC,) on the 23rd of December, started protesting against the decision of the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government to assign 3 State capitals.

The Advocates JAC demanded Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy establish the A.P. High Court (HC) in Amaravati, which was the promised capital of A.P., instead of making Kurnool the judiciary capital.

The advocates who are protesting questioned why Jagan Mohan Reddy is proposing 2 more capitals when he agreed to the proposal of N. Chandrababu Naidu, the former Chief Minister of A.P., of making Amaravati the State capital.

They reminded Jagan Mohan Reddy about his promise of developing Amaravati as the capital by acquiring 30,000 acres from farmers.  The advocates said the Amaravati farmers gave 33,000 acres of land for the development of the State capital and now are disappointed with the decision of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The advocates protesting against the proposal of having three State capitals said, “Politicians should not indulge in such political dramas for their party mileage.”

The protests in Visakhapatnam and Amaravati intensified after the G.N. Rao Committee submitted a report giving a green signal regarding the three capitals and the necessary construction work.

The JAC is expected to continue its protest until the State Government withdraws its decision of assigning three capitals and makes Amaravati the State capital.

Stay tuned for further updates.
