Amaravati: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the Andhra Pradesh government has introduced WhatsApp Governance to provide citizen services, receive public requests, and disseminate important information. These services will be officially launched on January 30. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting on the initiative, announcing that 161 services will be available in the first phase. IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh will officially inaugurate the service on Thursday.
Key Features of WhatsApp Governance:
🔹 Dissemination of Government Information – Citizens will receive official updates on holidays, weather alerts, development projects, and public safety notifications via WhatsApp.
🔹 Grievance Redressal – Citizens can register complaints by messaging the official WhatsApp number. Upon submission, a reference number will be generated to track resolution progress.
🔹 Information on Government Schemes – Residents can inquire about welfare programs, eligibility criteria, and benefits directly through WhatsApp.
🔹 Tourism Services – Users can access tourist destination details, book tickets, and arrange accommodations via the platform.
🔹 Utility Payments & Public Services – Citizens can pay electricity bills, property taxes, apply for trade licenses, book temple darshan slots, and access land records.
This innovative initiative positions Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of digital governance, ensuring efficient public service delivery.
