Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 15th of April, announced the second phase of free rice distribution amongst White ration card holders in A.P.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) announced a welfare scheme for the White ration card holders in the state in the wake of pandemic illness, the Novel Coronavirus.
The State Department of Civil Affairs made all the arrangements for the distribution which is scheduled to begin from the 16th of April.
Approximately 1,47,24,0147 families would get free rice and peanuts under the scheme during the lockdown.
The YSRCP Government shipped an adequate amount of rice and peanuts to 29,783 ration shops in all the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh for free distribution.
To avoid any violation of the lockdown and maintain social distancing, the State Government issued coupons for the beneficiaries. The village volunteers would have the coupons and would give to the card holders. People would be given a particular time, printed on the coupan to collect the free ration. The distribution of rice would take place in a phased manner, morning, afternoon and evening. These arrangements would help people to maintain social distancing and avoid public gathering in all districts of A.P.
A.P., is one of the State handling COVID-19 with all the necessary precautions and strict rules for the Nationwide lockdown.
Andhra Pradesh has a total of 502 cases with fresh 18 cases, reported on the 15th of April.
