The ongoing pandemic of the Wuhan virus did not affect Andhra Pradesh’s welfare schemes and development projects. 

Once again, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) announced the release amount under the YSR Jagananna Thodu Scheme. The State Government’s Jagananna Thodu scheme would provide financial assistance to small vendors and hawkers in Andhra Pradesh. Under the scheme, eligible vendors and hawkers can apply for interest free loans starting from Rs. 10,000. Vegetable vendors, fruit vendors, small shopkeepers, pushcart vendors, and traditional artisans are eligible to apply for the scheme.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) released an amount of Rs. 370 crores for the scheme. The amount was released virtually by the A.P., CM at his camp office in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh. Under the Jagananna Thodu scheme, nearly 3.70 lakh small traders and businessmen of A.P., would get Rs. 10,000 in their bank accounts this year.

Speaking on the occasion, the Andhra Pradesh CM said, the YSRCP Government’s scheme would benefit the small traders, especially at a time when everyone is suffering losses due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic. 

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “We are giving interest free loans of up to Rs. 10,000 to small traders.”

In 2020, the Andhra Pradesh Government provided financial assistance to nearly 5.35 lakh people. In addition, they were also provided loan facilities through the Jagananna Thodu scheme. With this, so far, a total of 9.5 lakh small traders were given interest free loans. Highlighting the same, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “We are helping all those who are eligible and will repay the interest to their accounts in a timely manner.”

In addition, till date, the YSRCP Government has spent a total of Rs. 905 crores under the Jagananna Thodu scheme.

The Jagananna Thodu scheme was launched on the 25th of November 2020.
