Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an ambitious plan to reconstruct the state capital, Amaravati, with the foundation stone-laying ceremony expected to be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources indicate that the PM may visit Amaravati between April 15 and 20 to inaugurate the project.

In the first phase, the state government has allocated ₹64,721 crore for infrastructure and development, with tenders already finalized for projects worth ₹37,702 crore. The construction is planned in mission mode, ensuring fast-track execution.

The state cabinet is scheduled to approve the agreements on March 17, after which contract agencies will receive official work orders. Once issued, construction activities will commence immediately.

The government aims to fast-track Amaravati’s development, reviving the stalled capital city project with significant investments in urban infrastructure. The move is expected to boost economic growth, employment, and investment in the region.
