AP HC Announces Verdict On ZPTC And MPTC Elections, Says Cannot Interfere

On the 23rd of March, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) High Court (HC) heard the petition filed regarding the ZPTC and the MPTC elections.

Recently Mettu Ramareddy, a resident of Guntur filed the petition and demanded an order against the State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections. The petitioner demanded an order for the SEC to conduct the elections before the 31st of March.

According to the petitioner (Mr. Ramireddy,) N. Ramesh Kumar is allegedly not holding elections and issuing the election schedule. Mr. Ramireddy said it is unconstitutional for non conduct of the elections despite the notification being released. Justice D.V.S. Somayajulu reviewed the matter first on the 17th of March. The last hearing in the case was held on the 20th of March.

In today’s hearing, the Court announced its verdict and dismissed all the three petitions seeking the MPTC and the ZPTC elections before the 31st of March. The Court has given a sensational verdict on the ZPTC and MPTC elections in the state. The High Court said, it is not possible to interfere in the SEC to conduct the elections. The HC also asked the SEC to file counter petition regarding the same.
