The Andhra Pradesh Government on the 23rd of March, announced to set up a government run ambulance network for animals. This would be India’s first Mobile Ambulance Veterinary clinic in every assembly constituency.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took the decision to boost the Animal Husbandry sector in the State.
The announcement came a day after the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government directed the Animal Husbandry officials to fill 6,000 Veterinary doctors posts in the State.
The government run ambulance would provide animals of the State a proper healthcare at doorsteps. There would be one Mobile Ambulance Veterinary Clinic at every assembly constituency.
In regard to this, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) released an official notification.
A total of 175 mobile ambulances (veterinary) clinics would be set up with the helpline number 108.
These mobile ambulances would provide veterinary first aid services along with spot diagnosis and attending to emergency cases. One of the major facilities of these ambulances would be ‘Hydraulic Lift’ facility to lift animals and shift them to the nearest Government Veterinary Facility in case of emergency.
For the functioning of these ambulances, one veterinary doctor, one para veterinary worker would be assigned to every ambulance. These ambulances will also have a 24/7 toll free call centre.
Meanwhile, under the State Government, there are 1,576 veterinary dispensaries with around 1,376 veterinary doctors.
