Concerned with the rise in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Telangana Government decided to close schools and colleges.
The decision was taken by the Telangana Education Department as per the direction of K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana. On the 23rd of March, Sabitha Indra Reddy, the Education Minister of Telangana announced the same. During the ongoing Legislative Assembly Budget session, Ms. Reddy announced the closure of schools and colleges in the State.
In the last few days, 700 students have tested positive to the novel and deadly coronavirus. According to health officials, 2,000 primary contacts might have come in touch with students contracted coronavirus. The Telangana government gave exemption to medical colleges and classes for the students will be held online.
Schools and colleges which recently opened after lockdown would be closed again from the 24th of March.
