Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has approved the draft of a new textile policy aimed at attracting ₹10,000 crore in investments and creating two lakh jobs in Andhra Pradesh. Chairing a review meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the policy surpasses the 2018-23 textile policy in impact and scope.
Highlighting the sector’s potential to provide large-scale employment to rural women, Chandrababu Naidu stated that Andhra Pradesh will emerge as a leading destination for textile investments once the policy is implemented. The draft policy, which has received the CM’s consent, will soon be presented to the State Cabinet for approval.
The new textile policy focuses on encouraging weaving, processing, garment manufacturing, and integrated units by offering enhanced capital subsidies and other incentives. Special provisions are also included to benefit SC, ST, BC, Minority communities, and women entrepreneurs.
In addition to textiles, the Chief Minister conducted a review of the State’s leather policy. However, a final decision on it will be made after further evaluation.
The State Government has already introduced over 10 new policies across various sectors, reinforcing its commitment to economic growth and employment generation.
