CM Naidu Holds Talks to Finalise Rural Poll Seat Sharing

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held separate meetings with Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav to discuss seat sharing for the upcoming rural local body elections.

The talks focused on the distribution of seats among the ruling alliance partners — the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena and the BJP — for the MPTC and ZPTC elections.

Leaders are working to settle claims from candidates seeking the same seats and improve coordination among the three parties. Candidates from all three parties have already filed nominations in several areas.

During his meeting with Madhav, Naidu discussed the seats that could be allotted to BJP candidates.

The alliance’s earlier seat-sharing plan for municipal elections was also discussed as a possible reference. Under that arrangement, Jana Sena received 24 of 123 seats, while the BJP received nine.

However, it is not yet clear whether the same plan will apply to rural elections. Naidu said seat allocation could depend on each party’s local strength.

The alliance leaders are now working towards an agreement as the nomination process nears its end.
