Amaravati: Cyclone Fengal continues to move at a speed of 10 km per hour in the Southwest Bay of Bengal, currently positioned about 100 km from Puducherry and 100 km from Chennai. According to Ronanki Kurmanath, Managing Director of the Disaster Management Agency, the cyclone is expected to slowly approach the coast this evening, with landfall anticipated near the Puducherry-Karaikal-Mahabalipuram stretch on the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts.

As the cyclone progresses, regions across South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema are experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall. The districts of Tirupati, Nellore, and Prakasam are bracing for gusty winds at speeds of 70-90 km/h. Flash floods are expected in low-lying areas, particularly in Nellore, Chittoor, and Kadapa districts, with authorities urging residents to stay alert and farmers to take precautions against sudden floods.

In addition to the severe weather conditions, several flights have been canceled due to bad weather. Flights between Visakhapatnam and Chennai, as well as Hyderabad to Chennai and Tirupati, have been suspended, with Chennai Airport temporarily closed for operations.
