Puducherry: Cyclone Fengal has made landfall near Puducherry, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) confirming that the storm is crossing the coast between Mahabalipuram and Karaikal. IMD officials estimate that the storm will continue to move inland for the next 4 hours, weakening into strong winds by 11:30 PM. The cyclone has been traveling at a speed of 7 km per hour over the last six hours, bringing heavy rains and gusty winds across affected regions.

The impact of Cyclone Fengal is being felt across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Coastal Andhra, and Rayalaseema, with heavy rainfall reported in Tirupati, Kadapa, Nellore, and Prakasam districts. The IMD has warned of gusty winds reaching speeds of 70-80 km/h as the storm moves further inland. There is also a risk of flash floods, with rainfall accumulation expected to reach up to 20 cm in some areas.

Disaster management officials are advising residents of low-lying areas to stay alert due to the risk of flooding. Chennai and Puducherry are experiencing intense rainfall, coupled with strong winds, as Cyclone Fengal continues to impact the region.
