Tadepalli: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has issued legal notices to two major Telugu newspapers, Eenadu and Andhra Jyothi, for publishing defamatory and false reports regarding the agreement between the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
In the notices, YS Jagan demands an unconditional apology from the publications, which should be prominently featured on their front pages. The legal action comes in response to the newspapers’ misrepresentation of judicial proceedings in the United States involving multinational companies like Gautam Adani, falsely linking YS Jagan to bribery and corruption. These allegations have significantly harmed his personal and political reputation, the notices claim.
YS Jagan has stressed that the SECI agreement was entirely transparent, aimed at benefiting the state by providing power at the lowest tariff of Rs 2.49 per unit. The agreement was approved after thorough scrutiny by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) and the Ministry of Power, saving the state Rs 4,420 crore annually and over Rs 1 lakh crore in 25 years.
The notices also accuse Eenadu and Andhra Jyothi of publishing politically motivated content, allegedly driven by ties to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). YS Jagan has called for the newspapers to issue a public apology and warned of legal action if defamatory content persists.
