Amaravati: Election Commission (EC) seriously focused on complaints raised by YSRCP and Telugu Desam over the duplicate votes and double votes. Mukesh Kumar Meena, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh issued key directions to the authorities to register cases against the voters who are enrolled in two different states.
A delegation of YSRCP led by housing minister Jogi Ramesh complained to the CEO over duplicate votes registered by a few people who are settled at Hyderabad, Bangalore and already registered votes there. TDP NTR district wing also registered a complaint over the duplicate votes registered by the people residing at Telangana districts which share a border with AP.
Taking serious note of the complaints, Mukesh Kumar Meena directed the district collectors to ensure that one person should have one vote in the country and one cannot register as voter at multiple locations. He asked the collectors to take declarations from new voters stating that they were not enrolled as voters anywhere else in the country.
Meena directed the authorities to file cases against the voters who are trying to enroll as voters in AP and already availed vote in other states.
