On the 27th of December, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government conducted a Cabinet meeting.

After the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) proposed to have 3 State capitals, the citizens started protests against the Party.  Farmers of Amaravati came out on the roads and started protesting with the demand Amaravati be developed as the sole capital of A.P.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., chaired the Cabinet meeting which was organised with the agenda to finalise the State capital.

However, the final call regarding the three capitals is expected to be taken during another high committee meeting.

Apart from the capital issue, the State Government discussed several issues in Andhra Pradesh related to the State’s growth and development.

Some of the major decisions taken during the Cabinet meeting were:

  • The YSRCP is expected to purchase 412 old vehicles and add 621 new vehicles to strengthen 104 (medical helpline) and 108 (emergency helpline) services of Andhra Pradesh.

  • Annually, turmeric, mirchi, onion and cereal crops, which have no minimum support price, will be purchased by the Government.
  • The Cabinet also decided to set up a Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology in 6 acres of land in Krishna district.
