Narasaraopeta: Former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy has strongly condemned the recent harassment of a Dalit woman, Manisha, in Julekallu village, Pedakurapadu Mandal, urging authorities to take swift action against those responsible.
In a media statement, Reddy expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that Manisha, who had been running her late father’s ration shop, faced severe harassment after the TDP-led alliance came to power. Her shop was forcefully taken from her, and she was threatened with false legal cases. According to Reddy, the harassment included demands for payments ranging from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 80,000, leading Manisha to attempt suicide by jumping into a canal.
Reddy condemned the incident as an act of extreme cruelty, particularly targeting women from marginalized SC and ST communities. He called for immediate police action against the perpetrators and announced plans to visit Julekallu village with other party leaders to investigate the matter further.
