N. Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 24th of July, nominated Payyavula Keshav, a TDP member, as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC.)

Payyavula Keshav is the sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Uravakonda in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh.

Keshav was a 5 time MLA from the Uravakonda constituency and belongs to the Kamma community. He also served as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) until the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Despite being approached by several TDP leaders such as Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Karanam Balaram and others, Naidu selected Keshav.

Tammineni Sitaram, the Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, will officially announce P. Keshav as the PAC Chairman.

As per the ongoing tradition, the PAC Chairman’s post is given to the MLA of the opposition party instead of a MLA of the ruling party.

Since the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) formed the Government of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) the position of the Chairman of the PAC belongs to someone from the TDP.

During the rule of the TDP, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, who is the current Finance Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was the PAC Chairman.

Stay tuned for further updates.
