Hyderabad: The Smart City Mission, a flagship initiative aimed at transforming urban infrastructure, has been granted an extension until March 2025 by the Center following Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s plea. During his recent visit to Delhi on June 24th, CM Revanth Reddy met with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manoharlal Khattar to discuss the extension. The original deadline for the mission was set to expire at the end of this month.
Currently, significant progress has been made under the Smart City Mission in cities like Warangal and Karimnagar in Telangana. In Warangal, 45% of the projects have been completed, with ongoing projects valued at Rs. 518 crores. Similarly, in Karimnagar, 25 projects have been completed, while Rs. 287 crores worth of projects are still underway.
The extension allows for the completion of existing projects without introducing new ones. Funds will be allocated based on the priority of ongoing projects until September this year, ensuring the timely execution of Smart City initiatives in Telangana.
