Delhi: Former Collector S Dilli Rao has been recognized with a national award for his exemplary efforts in championing children’s rights and transforming NTR district into a model of progress. Union Minister for State (Home Affairs) Nityanand Roy presented the award during a ceremony jointly organized by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on Sunday.

Rao’s dedication to safeguarding children’s rights and pioneering initiatives to tackle drug abuse were lauded as instrumental in shaping a brighter future for young minds.

During his tenure as NTR District Collector over the past two years, Dilli Rao implemented effective strategies to combat drug abuse and smuggling, along with innovative programs aimed at steering children away from harmful habits.

His leadership under the joint action plan (JAP) of NCPCR and NCB yielded significant outcomes, involving collaborative efforts with law enforcement, ICDS, Child Line, and various NGOs and educational institutions.

Rao’s initiatives included extensive awareness campaigns highlighting the dangers of substance abuse, prevention of child marriages, and eradication of child labor.
