Amaravati: The state government is swiftly preparing to resume construction of the Amaravati capital city, which had stalled during the previous administration’s tenure. On Saturday, the government issued notifications for the master plan, zoning regulations, and urban design guidelines for the proposed 1,575-acre Amaravati Government Complex (Administrative City) under the Capital Master Plan. The Municipal Department has released a gazette notification to this effect.
Despite approval before the 2019 elections, the gazette notification was pending until now. The Administrative City already houses the High Court, which was completed during the TDP government’s tenure and has been operational for several years. However, construction of apartment towers for various government officials, including MLAs, MLCs, and officers of All India Services, had ceased under the current administration.
Areas designated for Secretariat, High Court residential buildings, and other iconic structures have remained undeveloped, resembling forests with waterlogged foundations for five years. The current government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, aims to revive construction activities as part of revitalizing Amaravati. The notification also delineates the boundaries and survey numbers of villages like Rayapudi, Sakhamuru, Nelapadu, Lingayapalem, and Kondama Raju Palem earmarked for the Administrative City.
