Amaravati: AP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena directed the district collectors to initiate stringent action against the volunteers who were seen along with the politicians in campaigns or any other activities. He said that Volunteers are strictly prohibited from the election process.
He addressed a press conference here on Saturday after the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared the general and assembly election schedule. Meena said that election notification in AP will be issued on April 18, 2024 and the last date for filing nominations will be April 25, 2024. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until April 29, 2024. Polling will be conducted on May 13, 2024.
The CEO clarified that the election process is impossible without involving teachers. Giving clarity about the involvement of Ward secretariat staff Meena said that only permanent staff can be used for duties and that too only one ward secretary will be placed in one election team.
Meena said that a total of 4.09 crore voters are enrolled in the state and the last date for enrollment of vote is April 15, 2024. He added that district SPs will be made liable for any violent incident reported during the poll process.
