Delhi: Election Commission of India (ECI) declared the notification for the general elections and assembly elections in four states on Saturday. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar declared the schedule of the elections and explained the key changes and reforms brought in the election process this time.
He said that the elections will be conducted in 7 phases similar to 2019 elections. The First phase of elections will begin on April 19, 2024 and the last phase will be conducted on June 1, 2024. Results will be declared on June 4, 2024.
Rajeev Kumar said that usage of technology is given top priority this time. Part time employees such as volunteers, contractual employees will not be made part of the election process at any cost.
He said that violence at any level will not be tolerated and stringent action will be initiated. Elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal will be conducted in all seven poll dates. Polling at Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir will be conducted in five poll dates.
Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states will go for polling on May 13, 2024.
