The Tamil Nadu Government, on the 26th of April, built a wall across the roads bordering Andhra Pradesh.

The seven feet tall wall was built to restrict movement of vehicles in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection.

Built at the two key entries and exits on the Chittoor Ponni Chennai road and Chittoor Gudiyatham road in Chittoor district, these roadblocks would regulate vehicle movements into and out of Tamil Nadu during the nation wide lockdown. 

Vellore District Collector A. Shanmuga Sundram, on the 25th of April, issued an order regarding the construction of the wall.   

The construction started on the 26th of April, at the checkpoints to restrict vehicles from Chittoor in Vellore at these two points, Chittoor Ponni Chennai road and Chittoor Gudiyatham road.  However, other four border check posts at Paththalapalli, Paradarami, Christianpet, and Serkadu are kept open. 

Tamil Nadu is one of the Indian states with the highest number of the Coronavirus infections.  The State has a total of 1,885 positive cases till date.  On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 1,177 cases of Novel Coronavirus till date.
