
Tadepalli: On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, YSRCP President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy extended his heartfelt greetings to fishermen and reiterated his dedication to their welfare.
Taking to social media platform X, Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the transformative measures implemented during his tenure to uplift the fishing community in Andhra Pradesh.
“Our government prioritized the welfare of fishermen by constructing 10 fishing harbors and 6 fish landing centers with an investment of ₹3,767.48 crore. To support fishermen during the fishing ban period, financial assistance of ₹10,000 was provided to approximately 1,23,519 families. Additionally, subsidized diesel was introduced to ease operational costs,” he shared in a tweet.
These initiatives aimed to improve the livelihoods of fishermen while fostering sustainable fishing practices. Jagan emphasized his unwavering commitment to ensuring better living standards for fishermen and their families, recognizing their vital contribution to the state’s economy.
The fishing community has lauded these initiatives, which have significantly impacted their socio-economic conditions, making Andhra Pradesh a leader in fisheries development.
