The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) on the 26th of October, announced compensation for the victims of the Devipatnam boat mishap.
On the 15th of September, a boat named Royal Vasishta capsized, taking the lives of approximately 38 people. There were 73 passengers on the boat, where 38 died and 25 survived and were rescued by the State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF.) Ten bodies were missing, out of which, 7 were recovered.
Amongst the deceased, 12 victims were identified as residents of Telangana. For the victims belonging to Telangana, the State Government issued a compensation of Rs. 1.20 crores, 10 lakhs each to the families of the deceased.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) directed the YSRCP officials to deposit the sum of Rs. 1.2 crores to the account of the Telangana Government.
There were 9 people from Warangal district and one from Janagama, Khammam and Rangareddy each.
