The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the non political Joint Action Committee (JAC) organised a grand ‘Visakha Garjana’ rally on the 15th of October, Saturday.

Organised in Visakhapatnam, the rally is in support of the YSRCP Government’s decision of three capitals of Andhra Pradesh and make Visakhapatnam, the Executive Capital.

On Saturday, the organisers and the JAC stated that more than one lakh people in the City participated in the rally despite heavy rain.   As per sources, the Visakha Garjana rally began at Ambedkar Circle and concluded at the YSR Statue near Park hotel, Visakhapatnam.

During the rally, the protestors raised slogans in support of the three state capitals, proposed by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.  Notably, in 2019 December, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed the three state capital proposal.  As per the proposed plan, Visakhapatnam was said to be the Executive Capital, Amravati, the Administration Capital whereas, Kurnool will be the Judicial Capital of the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.

However, the opposition, the Telugu Desam Party and the villagers of Amravati, who gave up their lands for the capital construction, staged a protest and demanded Amravati be the only capital of Andhra Pradesh.  Due to the legal matters and pending cases with the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Telugu State, which bifurcated from Telangana, has no capital city.

Meanwhile, due to proposed capital cities, the TDP and the YSRCP are in a constant fight.  While the TDP conducts rally and protests, asking Amravati to be the only state capital, the YSRCP also organises rallies and create awareness regarding the growth and development of Andhra Pradesh with three capitals.

Notably, in today’s rally also, former minister and Gudivada Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of YSRCP Mr. Kodali Nani said, “Lakhs of people will get employment if Visakhapatnam is made executive capital.”

The rally is also said to be a huge success in Visakhapatnam.
